Geschichte

Tony Redding erklärt in seinem Buch Bombing Germany: The Final Phase: The Destruction of Pforzheim and the Closing Months of Bomber Command's War:„Vinall was shot by a 16-year-old-boy, Gerd Biedermann (1928-1999), the Hitler youth leader admitted that he had given Vinall the "coup de grâce" (Gnadenschuß) shooting him in the back of the head. One of biedermann's family had been a Bürgermeister of Pforzheim. He joined the Jungvolk in 1938 and by 1944 he was a Hitler youth Jungzugführer.“

Tony Redding beschreibt weiter in seinem Buch Bombing Germany: The Final Phase: The Destruction of Pforzheim and the Closing Months of Bomber Command's War:„ Wilhelm Maxeiner who was acquitted of beating Vinall owing to problems of identification... Wilhelm Maxeiner was acquitted owing to insufficient evidence. Stephan Paetzold says however, that eyewitnesses are still alive who confirm that it was Maxeiner who struck Vinall the blow that first forced him to his knees.“

Oliver Clutton-Brock beschreibt weiter in seinem Buch Footprints on the Sands of Time: RAF Bomber Command Prisoners-of-War in Germany 1939-1945:„Vinall was taken outside, where Wilhelm Maxeiner beat him about the head with a heavy stick until he was felled, probably unconscious, when Hitler Youth Gerd Biedermann shot him in the back of the head..“
